Conquering Snowdon

Jeff Whitton • September 5, 2014

If you’re a regular follower of this blog or a current customer of ours, then you will no doubt be aware that this year, we are raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support . Not only are we raising funds, we are also donating a significant number of cleaning hours per month, to cancer patients who need practical support.

Last month, one of our gallant sales team climbed Ben Nevis, overnight. So far, Mary-Jane has raised a total of £405 – a great start to our annual target of £5,000.

We are hoping to raise the rest of this money through a variety of events – a Macmillan coffee morning later this month, a successful car boot sale a few weeks ago and many other smaller initiatives. But as Managing Director, I realised that it was about time I played my part.

Snowdon Climb for Macmillan On 4th October 2014, my family and I will be climbing Snowdon.  If you have children then you will know that this will be no mean feat – persuading them to go out on a 30 minute dog walk is hard enough at times! This is likely to take us 7 hours and to be honest, none of us are used to walking that kind of distance.

What will your money go towards?

Right from the moment someone is given a cancer diagnosis, the friendly faces at Macmillan are there to provide practical and emotional support, not just to the patient but the family too. The reality however, is that 1 in 4 people will not have a close family member or friend providing them with the support they need. In fact many of them report feeling abandoned and alone.

This year, Macmillan has launched its ‘Not Alone’ campaign, with the strap-line – ‘No one should face cancer alone’. The sad news is that right now, Macmillan is not able to support all of the people who would benefit from the service. That’s where you come in! 98% of Macmillan’s income is from charitable donations – people like you, sponsoring people like us.

Are you willing to be part of the change?

If that answer is yes, then we would love you to sponsor us on our Snowdon climb – just a few pounds will make such a difference. Our Just Giving page can be found here,

The video below is a great illustration of why Macmillan needs your help….
