Introducing Our Environmental, Health & Safety Team
At Rapid Clean, we recognise the importance of focusing on looking after our environment, as well as the health and safety of those we work with and for.
To reinforce our commitment, we recently created an Environmental, Health and Safety Team (EHS), headed up by Helen Walsh, Rapid Clean’s Health and Safety and Compliance Manager.
Helen wanted to ensure that we had a good representation from all levels of the company, so invited people with various roles within the organisation. The one thing they all have in common, is a commitment to ensuring that we are doing our very best by the planet, as well as the people we encounter.
Rapid's EHS Team

Quarterly EHS meetings will be an opportunity for team members to raise matters of concern, as well as put forward ideas and suggestions of how we could be doing things better with regard to health and safety and the environment. Outcomes will then be communicated to all parties within the business, from Rapid Clean customers to our valued cleaning operatives.
Environmental Goals for 2021
- Benchmark energy usage throughout 2021 with the aim to reduce energy consumption year on year
- Benchmark water usage throughout 2021 with the aim to reduce the amount of water used / wasted year on year
- Delivery of environmental awareness training, including induction training to all staff throughout the business for completion by July 2021
- Review/purchase new vehicles with lower CO2 emissions
- Reduce our carbon footprint by communicating (where practical) by other means e.g. Zoom, Skype, MS Teams, to reduce the need for travel.
These goals will be added to as and when the EHS Team highlights any suitable revisions.
ISO 14001 Certification
We are thrilled to have been awarded ISO 14001 this month. ISO 14001 is the International Standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). It was designed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to help businesses and other organisations to reduce their environmental impact.
Credit must go to Helen Walsh, who has been continually pushing us forward to meet the required criteria for this esteemed certification.
