Latest Feedback from our Cleaning Team

Suzanne Whitton • April 11, 2024

A satisfied cleaning team is crucial to the success of our business. The only way to find out how well we are doing in this area, is by asking for direct feedback. With that in mind, we sent out a survey to our cleaning team at the end of 2023 and the results are in...

Changes Since the Last Survey

Two years ago we sent out a similar survey (you can see the results here). The data acquired from that survey, highlighted areas for improvement - mainly around improving communication. It's sometimes difficult to ensure on-site teams feel part of the bigger organisation, but we set about finding ways to improve on this.

Since the previous survey, we have introduced a digital newsletter which our HR department sends out to all cleaning operatives on a quarterly basis. The content varies, but generally consists of changes within the company, prize draw opportunities, highlighting our company values, award winners etc. For a bit of fun, we like to recognise our employees' birthdays, as well as milestone work anniversaries. We have also established the use of Whatsapp groups to aid communication between teams.

Improving communication is an ongoing goal; we are continually trialing new ideas to encourage greater teamwork.

This Year's Feedback and Action Points

This year we saw improvements in the majority of areas, but particularly with regard to communication from managers. This statistic went from 86% in 2021, to 89% in 2023, of people agreeing that their manager clearly communicates performance expectations.

We added some new questions this time round, and were pleased to discover that 91% of the 303 participants know the company's values, and 95% said that they felt our actions represent our values.

One element that we will be focusing on over the next 24 months, is improving our training process for cleaning operatives. We obtained some valuable feedback from the survey, that will help us steer our training efforts in a meaningful way. 81% of people said that they would appreciate refresher training; we will be considering online training tools to deliver this.

A huge thank you to all those who took the time to provide us with feedback. We have produced a short video with an overview of the results...
